Title: Fatigue and Exhaustion

Greetings, all!

A character's degree of fatigue or exhaustion is better expressed as stamina, so that as stamina decreases, fatigue/exhaustion increase.  The Elder Scrolls series used this terminology, had the same problem, and solved it the same way.

This update (https://www.realms-beyond.com/forum/index.php?topic=188.0) shows an 'Exhaustion' meter.

Yes, the game has some kind of fatigue (the name isn't final yet).

All of your character must rest from time to time. Most of them need to sleep as well  - some, like elves don't sleep but meditate. Not only to memorize/restore spells but because it's part of the world simulation.

Yes, you can modify every race attribute/feature from outside.
In general, we don't have any hard-coded parameters or properties for races or classes in the game. The game code itself doesn't even know specific races like Humans and Dwarves, or classes like Figher and Wizard.

I can't say I recall a non-survival game where fatigue/exhaustion added much to the experience.

I agree with rjshae.

Avoid things that bring few to the gameplay and sooner or later becomes chores, such as getting back to the camp to rest using "teleportation", bartering with the main PC inventory active only, feeding the party every n hours, store keepers not available at night for the sake of realism (which ultimately just force the player to use the wait button) ...

I agree with rjshae.

Yes, it's probably appropriate for a game with psychological horror elements. I can see where fatigue is necessary because of Barbarian rage, but that is only for the duration of the encounter. But for overland travel though, perhaps one could just time the movement rate so that it includes rest? Maybe travel times take longer at night?

I'm personally in favour of it, as of the sanity system. It helps highlight the difference between more stout races, like the dwarves, who probably don't get fatigued as much but are more stressed - and the elves, which probably can meditate the night away and aren't easily fazed, but may suffer physical fatigue more.
