Can anyone share a link to the discord or show where I can find it?
https://www.realms-beyond.com/

At the top there is what appears to be an icon for Discord.

I sense a great entitlement in the force.
Hehe, you certainly aren't the only one.

News & Announcements / Finished Map, Coin Design & Combat Beta Status
« on: February 02, 2020, Sunday, 10:39 am »
The map is looking very sexy, as is the coin.

And delaying the combat beta for those reasons is just the most sensible solution. Some people just need to learn to sit tight. After all, we should all want high quality releases and good first impressions which would be beneficial for the sales later on.

But it seems that you are late since the demo is not yet released.
Nowhere do I see a note from you indicating this delay.
Except in the very thread your are posting in?

Honestly, we underestimated the actual amount of work the combat demo would require. At the end, we don’t want to release unfinished gameplay elements and that’s why we need to spend more time in designing, implementing and polishing than originally planned. Therefore we are moving the release date of the combat demo to January.

It s difficult to know what concept please customers and tiny develoopers group as Ceres games can t make a gamble on a new type of game.
You are missing something really important and crucial here though: Ceres Games pitched the game (including the content and type (which also includes the rest system)) to potential backers on Kickstarter. Backers said: "Ok, I like those ideas, I'm willing to put money down and fund those ideas." As such, Ceres Games has an obligation to fulfill their promises to the people that already put the money down for what was presented. Non-backers have no voice, what they want is completely secondary. After all, if you screw over your actual backers, you basically lose all credibility as a studio (not to mention the morals of the issue). And if you ever want to use Kickstarter again...tough luck. So at best, other backers can propose changes to the developers. However, you have to remember that the silent majority went d'accord with the presentation of Ceres Games. So they aren't even neutral but are in differing weights of "yes" when it comes to the content of the game, which includes the rest system. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have written anything and also just stayed quiet and let Ceres Games do their work instead of bothering them all the time but in this case, I felt the need to say that the rest system they showed and talked about is basically exactly what I want - just to provide some counterweight.

If you don't want a proper rest system, why don't you just play basically all the other RPGs that are coming out these days? Nothing "boring" or "tedious" there. There are enough people who aren't a fan of the casualization of the gaming industry and their needs get basically never fulfilled.
And that aside, the information about the system is almost two years old. Why all the whining now?

Other companies give us updates every week!
Seems like those companies have too much time then.

Larian and old Bioware are different developers. One should do titles in the Divinity series, the other one should have done a Baldur's Gate III.

Don't care. It's not the old Bioware team (or the old publishing company), so it's Baldur's Gate in name only. It's the same for all series where some other people work on it again after a long time has passed. Shenmue III would be another such, somewhat recent, example. I love the first two in the series but I couldn't care less about the third entry.

By the way: It's Baldur's Gate III :P

How? I don't think you can access Discord without creating an account. Meanwhile, as a guest, viewing a forum's content is no issue at all. And typically, the vast majority doesn't register but simply reads what other people have written.

You don't need to create an account to read our Discord channel.  Just enter some user name and join. Discord will ask you to claim this user name, but you can easily click that window away.
Interesting, didn't seem that way when I read their TOS. Well, not gonna try it out due to the privacy concerns.

Instead, they should have focused on creating a single hub which is accessible for everyone.

Our forums and the discord are accessible for everyone.

Is it just me, or does it seem extremely quiet on these forums?  Of the other Kickstarters I've backed, they all have heavy communication back and forth between devs and backers.  Hopefully, this just means the team is busy, but July has passed and August will soon be coming to a close and we've yet to see the "combat early access"  and not a peep about it, by anyone actually, that I've seen.

Any thoughts?

It's quiet, yes. I'd imagine it will pick up once they get closer to release.
For sure. Though, considering they will likely continue to pointlessly divert people to Discord, the situation isn't ideal. Even apart from the privacy issues there, normal people will look into the forum to gauge popularity and will also look there for questions and answers. As popularity has a decently large effect on subsequent sales, separating your user base when that one will already be split between GOG, Steam, RPG Codex, this forum etc makes little sense. Instead, they should have focused on creating a single hub which is accessible for everyone.

Why not wait until that's properly ready instead?

Well...not much to think about since I pretty much share the same ideas. And as long as not all of a certain enemy type share the same "personality", it is all good. After all, not all ogres are equally dumb. Anyway, good job with the line of thought.
