Realms Beyond will initially offer two different point systems for attributes:
- Roll the dice and freely assign the results
- Point Buy with increasing costs the higher the attribute
Our approach is very much inspired by ToEE obviously
Regarding the rolling method: will this be a straight (simulation of ) 3d6 rolled 6 times or will there be some kind of 'weighting' system (e.g. simulating rolling 4d6 and then eliminating the lowest die result)?
First, we had best 3d6 of 4d6, but because you can assign every roll to one attribute, we removed that benefit again - the results were just too good compared with point buy.
Sorry, more question about attribute generation: can you share the exact point buy system?
I'm assuming that the point buy will cost 1 point up to 13, 2 points from 14 to 15, . 3 points from. 16 to 17 and 4 points for 18 (before modifiers).
What is the default starting attribute? Maybe 8 or 10? Can you reduce an attribute to get more points for others? How many points do you start with?
Also, with the rolling method: will it be like Baldur's Gate where you can reduce one attribute to add to another?
(I'm trying to plan out my characters!)
