Coming from the NWN community some of you may know about the Persistent World scene which allowed for players to build modules and host up to 64 players, essentially running their own mini MMO. I was wondering if the possibility exists for this game as well.

We have no plans for features such as persistent online worlds or massive multiplayer support. Regarding multiplayer, we'll focus solely on the Dungeon Master mode after release.

Would it be possible to leave a door open in the code so those who wanted to develop a PW server could do so? It is my understanding this how NWN PWs got started rather then it being a deliberate effort

You can just use the save game mechanism to make your world persistent. But a true MMORPG system won't be possible since you always need a dungeon master playing as host.
