Hi there,

Just wanted to say that one of my favorite combat system from all other rpg was the one from temple of elemental evil. I found that even if it was a real turn combat system without any active pause, it was still very dynamic and fast and action could resolve very easily.

I'm really happy to see that it is one of your model here.

No active pause? That sounds like real-time combat? I was looking forward to playing turn-based combat like in the old days?

We have turn-based combat in our game, no real-time.

Looks like Chris_Wilson meant exactly that by "no active pause" - no real-time with pause combat system, but oldschool turn-based instead, he just phrased it badly. :)

Pool of Radiance is the original inspiration for our combat system and my personal all-time favorite when talking about RPG combat.

But since we're using the ruleset of D&D 3.5e (SSI Goldbox games used AD&D), our  combat will be much  like Temple of Elemental Evil and the indie masterpiece Knights of the Chalice. Our most significant difference to those games will be the hexagonal grid (instead of squares).

We never had any ambitions to create our own system from the scratch, because, for us, the basic combat in ToEE and KotC has been already almost perfect.
